Top mortgage industry blogs you need to be reading right now

One of the most common questions I face when talking with mortgage professionals and real estate agents is: “Where do I find great content to share on social media?” It’s a fair question to ask and an important one, since providing content education to yourself or your borrower is a great way to expand your knowledge and reach new audiences. Sure, you could subscribe and always look here on MGIC Connects’ mortgage industry blog, but I think it’s important to diversify your options for mortgage-related content.

That said, in no particular order, I’ve compiled a list of what I believe to be some of the top mortgage industry blogs out there right now. Let’s take a closer look at how they make a positive impact in the mortgage industry.

Rob Chrisman’s Mortgage Commentary

Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last 10 years, you have probably heard of Rob Chrisman’s Daily Mortgage News and Commentary. When I joined the finance industry his blog was one of the very first that was suggested to me to read. Though the posts can be a bit long, the content is always top-notch. He mixes personal experiences with industry insights and perspectives. A must-read day in and day out to get the information that matters most.

The Truth About Mortgage

I appreciate Colin Robertson’s straightforward approach to explaining mortgage industry news in his mortgage blog posts. His experience in the industry gives him the opportunity to write on a variety of topics that matter to both the mortgage professional and real estate professional. The mortgage 101 section of his blog is relevant both to newer mortgage professionals and consumers, and provides great content to share with your borrowers. Be sure to check out his site for regular mortgage industry blog updates.

Loan Officer Hub

I love this entire site. It’s built around helping you improve your consumer, referral or social strategies. Created by MGIC, The Loan Officer Hub works to provide thought-leading insights from experts around the mortgage industry in mediums like podcasting, blogs, infographics, webinars, etc. Its media-rich content can help the mortgage professional as well as your borrower. The blog section of this site shares opinions and knowledge from industry leaders to help you thrive.

Mortgage Blog

Touted as an Amazon.com #1 best-selling author, Mortgage Blog creator Shashank Shekhar takes time each month to highlight mortgage-related blogs, videos, infographics and books. I like how Shekhar structures his posts in such a way that they are easy to read and digest. This makes reading more lengthy topics appealing and less exhaustive than other mortgage blogs out there.

Mortgage Fraud Blog

We’ve tackled the topic of mortgage fraud a few times here on the MGIC Connects mortgage industry blog, but nobody seems to do it better than Rachel Dollar, editor of the Mortgage Fraud Blog. Her regular updates and posts about the most recent mortgage fraud topics and news are invaluable to stay abreast of the changes and activity in this part of the mortgage industry. Her glossary section allows readers to more clearly understand key terms. Definitely a great addition to your regular mortgage industry reading list.

Keeping Current Matters

The Keeping Current Matters blog is a collection of articles and mortgage-related content from around the web that aim to give you the most important mortgage industry news nuggets without a deep dive. I like this approach because we are all very busy –  a quick snapshot of what’s occurring or has happened in the industry that might affect me as a mortgage professional or my borrower can be priceless. Though their site is tailored to the real estate professional, I have found many of their posts are beneficial to the mortgage professional and a potential borrower as well.

So what did I miss? Share in the comments some of your favorite mortgage industry blogs you like to read!
